An over speeding car rammed into a traffic police team on Kempegowda International Airport Road on Saturday evening, killing a head constable and seriously injuring another. As per reports, the impact was so powerful that the two constables, Dhananjaya Y and Uma Maheshwar, from the Chikkajala traffic wing, were thrown towards the metal railing on the side of the road. They were immediately sent to a nearby hospital, but there was nothing doctors could do to help Dhananjaya, 40. He was declared brought dead. Uma was later shifted to a private hospital; his condition is said to be in critical.
The driver Kushal Raj M, who was going to the airport in a white Hyundai i10, has been nabbed. Police said tests had revealed that he was not driving under the influence of alcohol, but he was travelling at a very high speed. Raj is a textile merchant from Gavipuram, Basavanagudi.
