Imran Khan, the Prime Minister of Pakistan will use Indian air space to travel to Sri Lanka, as per reports. He will be on a two day visit to Sri Lanka.

Earlier, PM Khan had visited Afghanistan.

India has granted permission after the authorities in Pakistan have requested for the use of its air space.

It is a protocol that whenever head of any other state takes route of air space of any other country, proper precautions are taken, authorities of the concerned nation have been alerted and due permissions are taken.

Islamabad had sought permission 10 days ago. India agreed to give permission on Monday.

India and Pakistan always remain at loggerheads due to their stand on Jammu and Kashmir and now the alleged closeness of Pakistan with China.

At a time when India had abrogated special status of Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan had objected to it strongly. It had also denied permission to use its air space for President of India, Ram Nath Kovind one time and PM Narendra Modi's plane twice.

The air space use denial by Pakistan came in September 2019 during the European visit of President Kovind.

It has also denied PM Modi to overflow from its air space during his visit to attend UNGA session and his visit to Saudi Arabia in October 2019.
