Pakistan ranked among the worst nations for internet freedom, social media and reporting

According to a recent survey conducted by a research company, Pakistan has been ranked among one of the worst countries in the world for internet freedom because of restrictions on social media and politicial reporting.

The survey scored as many as 181 countries on 5 criteria, namely, censorships on torrents, pornography, news media, social media, and VPNs. On the scale of 10 Pakistan scored 7 on the censorship scale (with 10 being the worst), putting the country on par with Turkey, Belarus, Oman, United Arab Emirates, and Eriteria.

The above mentioned countries scored same due to the like approaches to internet censorship. Pornography is banned in all of these countries, while political media also being heavily censored.

In the study, North Korea scored 10, China 9, while Russia, Turkmenistan and Iran scored 8.
