With India and Pakistan standing on the verge of war, India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) exposed Pakistan targeting the residential areas of bordering states- Punjab, Rajasthan and Jammu & Kashmir. Reports of civilian injuries and property damage in Punjab’s Ferozepur and Jalandhar districts have surfaced, exposing Pakistan’s ongoing campaign of targeting non-military zones. Indian authorities have condemned both the physical attacks and the accompanying disinformation campaign. Furthermore, the Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri fact-checked Pakistani media which are spreading propaganda that an Indian missile attacked Sri Amritsar Sahib. Below is what the Foreign Secretary said about Pakistan's attack on Punjab-
Claims of the S400 base destroyed in Adampur by Pakistan are completely false
Vikram Misri, "As you have seen, Pakistani claims about activities that they have undertaken continue to be heavy on lies and misinformation, and propaganda. On top of that, this is peddled by the Pakistani state agencies. The claims that they have made about attacking and destroying various places, various military installations and facilities as been pointed out by Colonel Qureshi and Wing Commander Singh. The claims are completely false."
"Claims about the Air Force station in Sirsa being destroyed are completely false, as you have seen. The claim about the Air Force station in Surat being destroyed is completely false. The claims that have been made S400 base at Adampur was destroyed is completely false once again. Claims have been made about large critical Indian infrastructure, power systems, cyber systems, etc, being attacked and destroyed are completely false. I would urge you not to be misled by these tissues of lies."
Pakistan targeted the civilian areas of Punjab
"Pakistan continues with its execrable and wanton campaign of targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure, especially in the states of Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab. There is also an attempt to sow discontent among communities in India. There has been particular focus on its targeting of civilian infrastructure and civilians in Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab. Earlier this morning, Pakistan shelled the town of Rajori, killing the Additional District Development Commissioner Rajkumar Thappa. We have also observed overnight damage to property and injuries to civilians in Ferozepur and Jalandhar, among other places,' said Vikram Misri.
"Pakistani officials also continue to make ludicrous claims about India firing missiles towards Sri Amritsar Sahib. As I said, these lame attempts to divide India are doomed to failure," concluded Vikram Misri.
