In the changing dynamics of politics, Punjab's former IAS officer Parampal Kaur Sidhu on Thursday joined the BJP ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Parampal Kaur Sidhu had resigned from the IAS officer post fueling speculation that she will enter politics and will fight Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Apart from being a former IAS officer, Parampal Kaur Sidhu is the daughter-in-law of former Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) minister Sikander Singh Maluka. Reports suggest that BJP may field Parampal Kaur Sidhu from Bathinda Lok Sabha seat.

Parampal Kaur Sidhu was posted as the Managing Director of the Punjab State Industrial Development Corporation. She had reportedly sent her resignation to Chief Secretary Anurag Verma. Interestingly, Parampal Kaur Sidhu's father-in-law, the former Punjab education minister, is still an active member of SAD. If reports are true then Sikander Singh Maluka is also a member of Akali Dal’s manifesto panel for the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections.

During the same ceremony, Rohan Gupta, former head of the Congress social media department, party spokesperson, and confidante of late Congress veteran Ahmed Patel, also quit the INC to join the BJP. Rohan Gupta had earlier pulled out of the race for the Lok Sabha election in Ahmedabad East where the Congress had fielded him.
