Pathankot: Crackdown against illegal mining 11 heavy truck seized at the prohibited site 3 arrested on the spot

Continuing its massive drive against illegal mining, the Pathankot police have booked 03 accused under mining act and seized 11 vehicles at the prohibited site.

The arrested accused have been identified as Gagandeep Singh son of Amrik Singh r/o Namane Kahnuwan, Gurdaspur, Palwinder Singh s/o Gurdeep Singh r/o Mathola, Shri Hargobindpur, Batala and Malkeet Singh s/o Harjinder Singh s/o Kutabi Nangal, Civil Lines Batala.

Divulging more details, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh said several teams were constituted and tasked to check illegal mining during day and night hours as excavation was completely banned by the government from July 1 to September 31 due to the monsoon season.

SSP Khakh said that some complaints were being received about sand and gravel loaded trucks are taking “Chor” routes , just to avoid mining naka’s .

Acting swiftly on a secret information that illegal mining is being done at Shahar Channi in Pathankot. DSP Dharkalan, SHO Sujanpur with his team immediately rushed to the site and spotted 11 heavy truck being loaded at the prohibited site. The cops have immediately arrested the 03 accused and confiscated 11 heavy trucks on the spot.

In this regard, a case FIR No. 121 under Section 4(1)(A), 21(A) Mining Act was registered against the accused at police station Sujanpur, Pathankot.

He said that directions were issued to nab actual culprits responsible for the illegal mining not just henchmen.

Lauding the team, SSP pointed out that police identified the sites where such excavation was going on and different teams were formed which carried out raided on these places. He said that 14 FIRs were registered against illegal mining in the past month. The drive would continue till the menace was completely wiped out from district, said SSP.
