Pathankot police intensifies checking drive across the district

Sets up inter-district /state special nakas for effective sealing plan and vehicle checking operation

To instill a sense of safety and security among the people, Pathankot Police on the directions of DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav on Saturday carried out a district/city sealing and special vehicle checking operation across Pathankot. 

The Inspector General of Police (Border Range) Amritsar Mohnish Chawala led the entire operation which was carried out from 4.00 pm to 7.00 PM, said the SSP Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh adding that special nakas had been set up to intensify the vigil and checking of vehicles entering and passing out from the Pathankot. 

He said that the maximum number of police officers and manpower was being mobilized for this operation besides effective inter-state/district sealing. The nakas have been set up at district/city sealing points under the supervision of Gazetted officers/ station house officers/inspectors who will ensure meticulous checking for the safety of people. 

On the directives of DGP Gaurav Yadav to carry out this drive across Punjab, the SSP pointed out that some sectors had been earmarked, which were being supervised by an SP rank officer to keep a close vigil on the movement of anti-social elements. Besides, the entire force was briefed about the type of checking to be done.  

Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh said that all Gazetted officers and naka Incharges would ensure deployment of as many as 30 NGOs/EPOs at Interstate naka, 20 at inter-district naka, and 10/10 at city sealing naka.  A thorough search of suspected vehicles /persons will be done during this special vehicle checking operation, said the SSP adding that proper barricading, stoppers, and police personnel having requisite equipment were conducting the search. 

Khakh said that police personnel had been directed to deal with every resident in a friendly and polite manner while conducting this operation as the step was aimed at the safety and security of people besides preventing anti-social activities, he added.
