In a significant breakthrough against drug trafficking, Pathankot Police conducted a successful operation resulting in the seizure of 153 kg of poppy husk, the arrest of two notorious smugglers, and the impounding of a truck used for the illegal activity.

The apprehended individuals have been recognised as Sahil Bhatia, the son of Hermal Chand, hailing from 25 Tihara, Pojewal, SBS Nagar, and Taranjeet Singh, the son of Sukhvir Singh, residing in Kaulgrah, Balachaur, SBS Nagar.

Narrating the details to the press media, Senior Superintendent of Police, Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh, revealed that SHO Nangal Bhoor, along with his team, acted promptly upon receiving a tip-off about a Canter (registration number PB-29-X-1105) suspected to be carrying narcotics into Pathankot from Mukerian side.

With precise coordination, the police team led by SHO Nangal Bhoor Shohrat Maan under the supervision of DSP City Lakhwinder Singh Randhawa swiftly halted the Canter at Kandrodi Morr Nangal. The driver and a young man, identified as Sahil Bhatia and Taranjit Singh respectively, were taken into custody. Upon thorough inspection of the vehicle, the police discovered 153 kg of poppy husk concealed in plastic bags.

The accused attempted to evade the police, but the vigilant officers managed to apprehend them. Subsequently, the police formally registered the case (No. 38) under the NDPS Act against Sahil Bhatia and Taranjit Singh for possession and transportation of the illegal substance.

During the initial investigation, it was revealed that Taranjit Singh, residing in Kaulgarh, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, is the son of Sukhvir Singh. Astonishingly, Taranjit was found to be connected with the infamous gangster Preet Sekhon and Sonu Roadmajara. Not only did he provide logistical support to them, but he also had ties with numerous poppy smugglers in the Jammu and Kashmir region. It is noteworthy that gangster Sekhon utilized Taranjit's mobile phone while in jail.
