Patiala girl's cause of death revealed; Bakery added high amount of THIS substance in cake

A 10-year-old girl in Patiala tragically died on her birthday (March 24) after eating a cake ordered online through Zomato.

In a major revelation, Punjab's District Health Officer on Monday gave a major update on Patiala girl's death after eating a cake on her birthday. A 10-year-old girl in Patiala tragically died on her birthday (March 24) after eating a cake ordered online through Zomato. Police investigation into the case revealed that the cake was not sent from a normal food outlet but instead from a “cloud kitchen”. However, the Patiala girl's death reason remained a mystery as Health Officers had taken a sample of the cake to check how it claimed an innocent's life. Now, Patiala girl's cause of death has been revealed. 

As per reports, a sample of the cake was collected for testing and the report shows a high amount of saccharine, a sweet-tasting synthetic compound, was used to cook it. The information was given by District Health Officer, DHO Dr Vijay Jindal to a prominent news portal.  Reportedly, small amounts of saccharine is used in food and drinks. However, high levels of saccharine can cause your blood glucose levels to rise rapidly.

 

As the lab report of the cake has come, officials reportedly said that action will be taken against the bakery soon and a fine may be imposed. A FIR has already been filed against the bakery's owner.

 

How did Manvi die?

 

In March 2024,  Manvi, 10 and her entire family, including her younger sister, fell sick after consuming a chocolate cake they ordered online from a bakery in Patiala on her birthday. Soon after the consumption of the cake, the girls began vomiting and Manvi complained about dryness in their mouth and feeling parched after which she was rushed to the hospital. The family alleged that the chocolate cake, ordered from a bakery called 'Cake Kanha', contained poisonous substances.

 

However, a few days later, it was revealed that the cake was not sent from Kanha Bakery but from New India Bakery. The owner of New India Bakery had got Kanha Bakery registered. Following that New India Bakery manager Ranjeet, and employees - Pawan and Vijay were also arrested.
