In a shocking incident, a woman late Sunday night was shot dead allegedly for violating 'maryada' (Code of Conduct) on the premises of Gurdwara Dukhniwaran Sahib in Patiala. The incident occurred around 10 pm on Sunday when the woman was caught drinking alcohol near the Sarovar. As per reports, the woman was identified as Parminder Kaur aged 33 years and she was consuming liquor near the Sarovar of Gurdwara Dukhniwaran Sahib. The woman was confronted by a Gurudwara attendant who asked her to stop breaking the code of conduct, however, in response, the woman reportedly broke the bottle and hit him on his arm.

After the scuffle, the woman was taken toward the room of the Gurudwara Manager where a man was standing nearby who took out his pistol and shot four bullets into her. The woman reportedly died on the spot. The shooter was arrested by the Police. As per reports, the accused has been identified as Nirmaljit Singh of Urban Estate in Patiala who is a property dealer and a regular visitor of Gurdwara Dukhniwaran Sahib in Patiala. During the shooting, the Gurudwara attendant, Sagar Malhotra, was also injured.

As per the Patiala Police, the weapon of murder has been recovered and currently, the investigation is going on and the Police is trying to find what prompted the man to shoot the woman. As a result, the Police is trying to watch every CCTV footage of the incident. Notably, a video is also doing rounds on social media in which the woman was seen lying on the ground unconsciously.
