Good news for rail travelers. Plans are in full motion to launch a new Vande Bharat Express train service between Patliputra Junction in Patna, Bihar’s capital, and Gorakhpur Junction in Uttar Pradesh. This announcement brings great joy to the citizens. The initiative has gained momentum following the Railway Board's approval of a joint proposal submitted by East Central Railway and North Eastern Railway. Both zones are now actively discussing the finer details to get this service up and running for the citizens.
The upcoming Vande Bharat train will significantly reduce the travel time between the two cities. Covering a total distance of 397 kilometers, the journey will now take just five to six hours—an exceptional improvement over the current travel time. At present, three trains operate between Patliputra and Gorakhpur, each taking between eight and ten and a half hours on a tiring journey.
This new high-speed train will pass through several key stations en route, including Sheetalpur, Khera, Mashrak, Gopalganj, Thawe Junction, and Kaptanganj Junction, before finally reaching Gorakhpur.
Right now, passengers have limited options when traveling from Patliputra to Gorakhpur:
Currently, Patna Junction is home to five operational Vande Bharat Express trains, which serve major cities. These include:
Lastly, India is stepping towards faster commutes and will soon reach every city. Working towards that goal, the Patna–Gorakhpur Vande Bharat Express will boost regional connectivity and offer passengers a faster, more comfortable travel experience.
