In sad news for Punjab, a six-months-old girl child from Phagwara died due to novel coronavirus on Thursday. The child fought the coronavirus for 26 hours, however, finally lost her life.

She was suffering from congestive heart failure was diagnosed with coronavirus in the PGI Hospital, doctors said on Thursday. The baby, weighing three kg, was diagnosed as a case of acyanotic congenital heart disease with congestive heart failure. She was earlier hospitalized in a corporate hospital in Ludhiana for 36 days and was subsequently referred to the PGI for corrective surgery, the PGI said in a statement.

Special Chief Secretary K.B.S. Sidhu, who is in-charge to monitor statewide coronavirus cases, informed in a tweet about the girl that, the six-month-old girl child who has tested positive in the PGI, and belongs to Phagwara, remained admitted to the S.P.S. Oswal Hospital in Ludhiana for treatment of her congenital heart problem.

The six-month-old girl whose name was Ritika was on ventilators on Wednesday night. When her father and mother was tested for the novel coronavirus both of their report came negative. Ritika's grandparent's report also came negative. Therefore the question is arising that how the infant was inflicted with the coronavirus. Before admitting to the PGI, Ritika's father Ramu took her Jalandhar's Apollo Hospital. She was in the hospital for last 36 days. When her situation started to be worsening she was referred to PGI Chandigarh when she lost her life.
