Phagwara police have recovered the charred body of a man near Chaheru Bei on Phagwara-Jalandhar highway last night. The deceased could not be identified nor could it be ascertained how he died. Phagwara Sadar Police has been taken the body in custody and kept at the Civil Hospital for identification.
Talking to reporters here, the police official said that the police had received information that a body had been found near Chaheru bridge. After which they rushed to the spot and took the body in their possession. He said that if anyone has any information about the deceased, he can contact them at Sadar Police Station, Phagwara.

It may be recalled that some dead sheep were also found at the spot where the body of the deceased was recovered. According to sources, the number of dead sheep was around 1 dozen but only 4 dead sheep were found on the spot while the rest were missing. At the moment, it is a matter of investigation for the police as to how the man died, whether he was killed or not. It remains to be seen whether the police will get to the bottom of the matter or else the matter will go into abeyance.
