Pilgrims crushed by trolley in Hoshiarpur: 7 dead and 15 injured

A shocking incident took place in the Garhshankar area of Hoshiarpur, Punjab when an uncontrollable trolley ran over a group of pilgrims. The group was headed to Khuralgarh Sahib to pay obeisance on the occasion of Baisakhi. Khuralgarh is famous for its connection to Sikh Guru Ravidas Ji.

Reportedly, 15 passengers have been severely injured in the incident while 7 lost their lives. 5 of them have been identified as Rahul (25), Ramo (15), Sudesh Pal (48), Geeta Devi (40) and Unnati (16). With the help of by standers, those that were injured were taken to Garhshankar Hospital. 5 of them were then referred to the highly reputed PGI hospital in Chandigarh. The devotees were headed to Khuralgarh on foot late at night when the trolley lost control and crushed them. The situation was confusing at first and it took some time for by standers to get the situation under control.

The victims have been identified as residents of Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh by the chief sevadar of Guru Ravidas Ji’s taposthali.
