PIMS to begin treatment for COVID patients from JULY 23

Disclosing further information the Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that the step was aimed to tackle the increasing number of COVID-19 far more efficaciously and provide the best possible care to the COVID-19 patients.

Acceding to the requesting of Deputy Commissioner Mr. Ghanshyam Thori, 14 private hospitals have offered 186 beds for treating level-2 and 47 beds for level-3 Covid patients in Jalandhar taking the total tally to 211-beds for level-2 and 57-beds for level-3 in the private hospitals for treatment of Covid-19 patients.

The private hospitals would charge on the maximum rates as fixed by the Punjab Government for the treatment. At present, the IMA facility in Shahkot has already provided 25 beds for level-2 and 10 beds for level-3. 

Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) would start offering treatment to the Covid-19 patients from July and has offered 110 beds for level-2 and 10-beds for level-3 patients. 

Disclosing further information the Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that the step was aimed to tackle the increasing number of COVID-19 far more efficaciously and provide the best possible care to the COVID-19 patients.

DC Thori further added that apart from PIMS which had offered 110 beds for level-2 and 10-beds for level-3 patients, New Ruby, Mann Medicity, Gulab Devi and Joshi Hospitals had also offered 22 beds for level-2 and Eight beds for level-3 patients in Gulab Devi Hospital, Six beds for level-2 patients in Kidney Hospital and Armaan Hospital, 10 beds for level-2 in Rattan Hospital, Eight beds for level-3 offered by Sacred Hearts Hospital, Four beds for level-2 and level-3 by Shrimann Hospital respectively, 10 beds for level-2 and four beds for level-3 by Joshi Hospital, Four beds for level-2 and five beds for level-3 by Sarvodya Hospital, three beds for level-2 and level-3 by Capitol Hospital respectively. Likewise, the Patel hospital has offered 11 beds for level-2 patients and five for level-3 patients. 

The most hospitals would start admitting and treating Covid patients in the first week of August 2020, added DC. 

He said that complete details of bed equipped with piped oxygen supply and ventilators had been provided by the said hospitals following which now their services would be utilized to ensure the best possible treatment in critical cases.  Mr. Thori said that the State Government has already fixed the rates which would be charged by the hospitals.

He said that the priority was to take care of old and vulnerable population with co-morbidities that were at high risk of developing severe illness and appealed the people to don’t take the flu-like symptoms lightly and contact the doctors soon. He said that the people should not get panicky as more cases were reported in the city due to aggressive testing.

The Deputy Commissioner said that presently, Covid Care Centre in Government Meritorious School acts as a level-1 facility, and Civil Hospital takes level-2 and level-3 patients in the government sector and IMA hospital at Shahkot-Moga road is lone private facility center in the district.
