‘From Green booths to Pink booths’; Know the progressive polling booths to be set up across Punjab this Lok Sabha elections

Polling day in Punjab for Lok Sabha elections, 2024, is all set on June 1. In light of the elections, various polling booths with progressive themes have been set up across the state. Green polling booths will be built in the state to spread the message of environmental protection and sustainability along with voting in every constituency of Punjab. Along with these, pink booths, booths managed by the youth, and booths for Person with Disabilities (PwD) will be set up.

Not only this, several booths will be designed in a way to commemorate the history, heritage and great personalities of that area. Cutouts and galleries depicting the lives of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru will be installed at the green booth in Khatkar Kalan. Cutouts of late actor Amrish Puri along with his iconic dialogue 'Mogambo Khush Hua' will be installed in Rahon, his native village.

Booths managed by Youths:

For the first time in Punjab, 88 booths managed by the youth will be established in 13 Lok Sabha seats. This booth will be built where the number of young voters aged between 18 and 29 years is high. The purpose of making youth booth is to make the youth realize the importance of voting and responsibility they hold towards the society. The entire staff at this booth will be below 35 years of age.

Booths managed by Persons with Disabilities (PwD):

Disabled personnel will be deployed at the polling stations of this booth to aid their fellow voters. This initiative was launched to show that whether it is a festival of society or democracy, the disabled’s participation is no less than anyone else's.

Pink Booth:

There will be only women workers in the ‘pink booth’. Selfie points have also been made at these centers where people can get their photos clicked.

Model Booths:

Apart from this, there will be 984 model booths (model polling stations). These booths are different from normal booths. According to reports, there will be ‘selfie points’ for voters to click their photos at these booths.
