PM urges 'Don't fall for rumors', launches vaccine drive

Amid the controversy erupted over the Bhart Biotech's Covaxin, whose Phase 3 results are still awaited, the PM urged people not to fall for propaganda.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launches the vaccine drive today and urges people not to fall for rumors.

With a new motto , 'Dawai bhi, Kadai bhi' (Vaccine as welll as discipline), the PM urges people to stay cautious even after getting vaccine. He also asked people to follow all protocols such as wearing masks and maintaining physical distancing.

Expected to be the largest vaccination drives, India sets to vaccinate 3 crore healthcare and front line workers. Covaxin and Covishield, both the vaccines got emergency approval and both are two dose vaccines.

Amid the controversy erupted over the Bhart Biotech's Covaxin, whose Phase 3 results are still awaited, the PM urged people not to fall for propaganda.

PM said, "Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) gave approval after they were satisfied with the data of the two vaccine, so stay away from rumours."

He further invokes the credibility factor of Indian vaccines by saying that 60% vaccines given to Children are made in India.

Recalling the tough times when people could not attend the last rites of their family members and were separated after they were infected, the PM said, "In times of crisis, some were giving us hope. They were putting themselves at risk- doctors, nurses, paramedics, ambulance drivers, etc."

The PM also said that it takes years to develop vaccines but in a short time, two made in India vaccines were developed.

After the PM launches the vaccine drive, over 3 lakh health care workers are expected to receive the vaccine on the first day.
