Punjab Police have arrested the accused in case of extorting former Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi of Rs 2 crore and threatening to kill him. The accused was identified as Deepak Shri Sant Kable, resident of Maharashtra. He studied hotel management and has worked as a chef in many hotels. During these days he was working in the stock market. He had made this call for some money.

 

During interrogation, the accused admitted that the call was made in the name of Goldie Brar. Police investigation has revealed that the accused is not a criminal by profession. He had chosen this path to earn easy money. Reportedly his parents have passed away. The accused admitted during police interrogation that he had heard the name of gangster Goldie Brar a lot. In such a situation, a call was made on his behalf to CM Charanjit Singh Channi by taking the name of Goldie Brar.

 

Police officials have claimed that at present the accused says that he was engaged in this act alone. However, the police suspect a bigger involvement. The police has taken the accused under remand for three days.

 

The police have so far recovered a laptop and mobile phone from the accused. However, the police is interrogating the accused. The police had registered a case in this regard on March 2. When former CM Charanjit Singh Channi had said in a public meeting that the law and order situation in the state was so bad that even he was receiving extortionate calls.
