Agnipath Protest in Punjab: Protests against the 'Agnipath' scheme of recruitment in the central government's army are increasing continuously across the country. Its spark has now reached Punjab. In Jalandhar, a large number of youths blocked the Amritsar-Delhi National Highway in protest against this plan. Police are trying to convince them on the spot. The situation remained tense till 5 pm. 

However, after that, the police arrested the protesters. At the same time, some protesters fled from the spot fearing arrest. Commuters and common people are facing a lot of trouble due to the jam. Ludhiana protesters have created a ruckus at the railway station. Many trains have been affected. Saharsa Garib Rath (12204), Amrapali Express (15708) and Saryu Yamuna Express (14650) trains originating from Amritsar have been cancelled.

Alert at all railway stations in Punjab

The youths gathered near the busy PAP Chowk of the metropolis have blocked the Delhi National Highway. Although the police are ready on the spot. The youth's sit-in continued on the Link Road, after which a jam-like situation arose on the National Highway. At the same time, after the uproar at Ludhiana railway station, an alert has been put at all railway stations in Punjab. GRP and RPF have made tight security arrangements at railway stations in Jalandhar.

GRP station in-charge Dharmendra Kalyan and RPF company commandant GS Ahluwalia took stock of the security arrangements at Amritsar railway station. Railway has cancelled many trains running from Amritsar with Mahesh. Passengers were stuck in a jam due to the sit-in demonstration of the youth on the National Highway, walking towards the destination on foot.

Adamant on the demand to withdraw the decision

The youth say that the new decree of the Center has insulted the army. Staying in the army for 4 years and not getting a pension after that is wrong. We demand the Center withdraw this decision soon. Due to this protest of the youth, there has been a huge traffic jam, due to which people are facing problems. It should be noted that earlier in Pathankot, the youth had expressed their displeasure against this scheme by burning an effigy of the central government. Along with this, they also raised slogans.
