Farmers agitating against the contentious farm laws onthe borders of Delhi for more than two months have been granted permission tocarry out their tractor parade on Republic day, January 26. However, it comeswith several restrictions.
"Protesting farmers can enter Delhi but can'tdisturb the Republic Day parade," Delhi police said on Sunday. As perreports, tractor rally will begin only after the Republic day parade onRajpath.
The farmers have been promising of carrying out apeaceful march and the police granted permission after series of talks.
The police has said that the farmers could enter Delhibut they have to go back after entering few kilometers into Delhi.
As per reports, stringent security arrangements will beensured by the police because of Republic day and farmer's tractor marchfalling on the same day.
The government had earlier denied carrying out the paradeand said it would be an embarrassment to the nation because of the Republicday. The Supreme Court also didn't interfere where the Delhi Police had filed aplea.
The Apex Court cited that it was a law and order issueand police and government were at liberty to decide who should and shouldn'tenter Delhi.
The protest at Delhi has become symbolic of the power ofcommon man and particularly farmers. With multiple slogans being raised againstthe government and political parties, it can be touted as a historical march inrecent times.
Earlier the farmers' unions have rejected government'sproposal of putting on hold the implementation of laws for 18 months. Afterthat the talks broke down between both the parties. Now the deadlock seems tobe on its peak with government and farmers acting stiff.
Moreover, after the incident where a young boy was nabbedby farmers and he first alleged that he was prepared by a policeman to killleaders of farmers on the Republic day and later backtracked from his earlierallegations and leveled counter allegations on farmers, the situation remainedtense because obviously, it is still obscure who tried to infiltrate thepeaceful protest.
Farmers earlier also rejected the committee formed by theapex court which was given responsibility of talking with the people and filinga report in two month.
Now, the impasse between both farmers and government willbe resolved only if one of the parties back off from their demands. Let's seewho will blink first!
