In a significant political development ahead of the Ludhiana elections, Phillaur MLA Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary has made a return to the Congress party today. Chaudhary was suspended from the Congress last year following disciplinary action for alleged anti-party activities, including public statements and speeches against the party’s Jalandhar candidate and former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi. The suspension was ordered by Punjab Congress in-charge Devender Yadav, citing repeated violations of party discipline despite multiple warnings.

Sources indicate that Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary has been formally inducted back into the Congress during a party program scheduled in Dakha today.

According to the sources, Chaudhary had confirmed receiving calls from Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and senior leader Pratap Bajwa, inviting him to the event. Chaudhary acknowledged that he would be attending the Congress program in Dhaka and is set to rejoin the party during the proceedings.

Chaudhary, whose family has deep roots in Punjab’s political landscape, had earlier resigned as chief whip of the Congress in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha and was vocal in his criticism of party decisions, particularly regarding Channi’s candidature in Jalandhar. His mother, Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary, had also switched to the BJP in 2024, further intensifying the political drama in the region.

Chaudhary’s return to the Congress party has brought a stir in Punjab's political landscape.
