Sitting Trinamool MP joins BJP, Setback to Mamata Banerjee

According to some insiders, Khan was upset with functioning style of Mamata Banerjee's nephew Abhishek Banerjee

New Delhi, Jan 9: In a setback to Mamata Banerjee, CM, Bengal, a sitting Lok Sabha Member of Parliament Saumitra Khan, on Wednesday, joined BJP here.

Khan joined the BJP in presence of Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Petroleum Minister and BJP leader from Bengal - Mukul Roy.

Saumitra Khan represents Bishnupur seat in the parliament and is expected to seek re-election on BJP ticket in the 2019 polls.

Mr Mukul Roy, who was once a trusted aide of Mamata Banerjee had joined BJP in 2016, said many more sitting Trinamool Congress members were also in touch with BJP leadership.
