Pope tells the Priests guilty of sexual abuse to ‘hand themselves over to human justice’

Catholic Church would ‘never again’ dismiss or cover up such cases, says Pope Francis

On his annual Christmas speech, Pope used strong words to convey the Catholic Church stand on the clergy accused of sexual molestations and rapes.

“To those who abuse minors I would say this; convert and hand yourself over to human justice, and prepare for divine justice,” said Pope Francis in his speech at the Vatican on Friday.

The Pope also acknowledged that the Church has “treated many cases without the seriousness and promptness that was due. That must never happen again. This is a choice and the decision of the whole Church.”

However, the survivors and their advocates found the Pope words hollow citing that just this week, the chief prosecutor in Illinois, USA accused church officials of covering up the names of around 500 priests accused of abuse.
