NE Delhi Violence: Post-mortem report of Constable Ratan Lal reveals he died of bullet injury not stone-pelting

Post-mortem report of Delhi Police head constable Ratan Lal, who died amidst the clashes in northeast Delhi's Gokalpuri on Monday had confirmed that he died of bullet injuries.

However, the intital reports stated that Ratan Lal had died of head injuries received during stone-pelting in the violent clashes between two groups in the area.

As per the recent autopsy report, a bullet was found stuck in the body of Ratan Lal. The bullet had entered his body via left shoulder and went up to the right shoulder which resulted in his death. During the post-mortem examination, bullet was removed.

The clashes in northeast Delhi, on Monday, took a violent and ferocious turn when US President Donald Trump landed in Delhi. In several areas of the NCR fierece clashes broke out as frenzy mob set various shops, houses, petrol pumps and public property on fire and also pelted stones at anti-groups.

Ratan Lal, a head constable attached to the office of the ACP Gokalpuri was killed during the clash. Several police personnel, including Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Shahdara, Amit Sharma were also allegedly injured while they were trying to settle the protests.

A protester, on Monday was also seen threatening a Delhi Police officer with a gun in his hand. He shot 8 rounds in the air.

So far, at least 20 people have been killed in the violent clashes in Delhi that have continued since Sunday evening. The rampage went on for over 2 days straight while situation in northeast Delhi continues to remain tense.
