Nawanshahr, February 03: On the call given by the National Coordination Committee of Electrical Employees and Engineers as well as the State Committee of Council of Junior Engineers, the Powercom Engineers and other employees of region Nawanshahr, wearing black badges held a dharna here at Circle office today to observe ‘National Protest Day’ against the proposed Electricity Bill.
Er. Tarvinder Singh and Er. Gurbaksh Ram, president and general secretary respectively of the Circle Committee of the Union, while addressing the dharna condemned the pro privatization policies of the government. The proposed bill, if enacted, would pave the way for the corporate sector to get reins of the power sector public institutions, they said.
They further said that proposed electricity bill 2021 must be boycotted and government must adhere to their demands or else they would be forced to intensify the protest.
