In a bizarre development, a man from Prayagraj was hospitalized after he found a 'dead rat' in his veg-meal order served by the Worli outlet of Barbeque Nation. The Prayagraj man who has been identified as Rajeev Shukla took to his official X handle and shared pictures of a dead rat that he found inside the veg meal that he ordered from Barbeque Nation Worli in Mumbai. Not only this, the man also shared his picture that he was hospitalized after he ate the food. As per Rajeev Shukla, the incident occurred on and after January 8th, 2024.
Sharing Barbeque Nation dead rat pictures, the UP man wrote, "I Rajeev Shukla (pure vegetarian) from Prayagraj visited Mumbai, on 8th Jan'24 night ordered veg meal box from BARBEQUE NATION, worli outlet that a contained dead mouse, hospitalised for 75 plus hours. complaint has not been lodged at Nagpada police station yet. Please help."
After Barbeque Nation dead rat photos went viral on social media, the famous restaurant chain responded, "Hi Rajeev. We regret any inconvenience you may have experienced. We believe Mr. Paresh from our Regional Office, in Mumbai is already in touch with you to understand the details of the situation and work towards a resolution."
Notably, the incident occurred during Shukla's visit to Mumbai. He placed an online order for a Classic Veg Meal Box Regular from Barbeque Nation in Worli. Upon the food’s arrival, Shukla started to eat his meal, only to discover a dead rat and cockroaches in the Dal Makhani. Subsequently, he experienced gastric distress and urgently sought medical attention at the civic-run B Y L Nair Hospital.
Rajeev Shukla was quoted by a portal saying, "I wanted to explore Mumbai and so I did, coming all the way from Prayagraj but possibly, this might be my last trip. I am a Brahmin and a pure vegetarian, but when my Barbeque Nation order arrived, it gave me the shock of my life. The food contained a dead rat and cockroaches. I suffered food poisoning and got admitted to Nair hospital."
Apart from posting his ordeal on social media, Shukla also reached out to the eatery via Email. In the email , Barbeque responded, "Dear Guest, We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced and appreciate you taking the time to bring it to our attention. I would like to assure you that your concerns are of the utmost importance to us." Shukla's email said, "Received food with rat and insect, and unfortunately, I consumed its major portion. This is just not done since I am a vegetarian, also this is intolerable and I feel like puking; vomited already and it’s continuously running in my head and giving me nausea. Food business is (intended) to keep us alive and not to kill us."
