Law student of Delhi University was not allowed to write her exams in the second year. She was expecting. She was in the later stage of pregnancy.

The results of her fourth, fifth and sixth semesters were withheld. She continued the battle in the apex court. The Supreme Court on Friday came to her rescue and asked the Delhi University to declare her fifth semester results.

A bench headed by Chief Justice S.A. Bobde and comprising Justices A.S. Bopanna and V. Ramasubramanian said, "The IA (intervention application) and the SLP (special leave petition) are disposed of, directing the university to declare the fifth semester supplementary examination results of the petitioner and issue the provisional degree along with necessary certificates, provided she had passed the examinations, subject to the petitioner clearing the other formalities."

Ankita Meena joined the three year LLB course in the Faculty of Law, Delhi University in August 2016. She was already married for about five months when she joined the course. First three semesters were completed by her without any hurdles but in the fourth semester, she delivered a baby in 2018 and later on the teachers association went on a strike in mid March. It affected her classes.

Court had declined to pass an order to allow her sit in the exams just one hour prior to the commencement of the exam in May 2018. However, the court allowed to her attend classes in October 2018 on her own risk and after completing all formalities.

The court had directed the university to allow her attend the classes of sixth semester as per its October 2018 order in 2019. In July 2020, the court ordered her results for fourth and sixth semesters be declared. Following these orders, Meena appeared for fourth, fifth and sixth semester exams.

Now the court has ordered to allow fifth semester results as she has completed the course in entirety.
