As per reports, Harry & Meghan's staff reached out on behalf of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to ask the White House if they could fly back to the States with Biden on his presidential plane i.e. the Air Force One. However, their request was turned down as the US feared that it would "strain relations" between the US government and the Palace. A source in the known development was quoted saying, "It would have caused such a commotion. It would have strained relations with the Palace and the new King." As per reports, the US government pays for officials to travel, while President Joe Biden pays personally for family members and his party foots the bill for travel to campaign events.
