affiliating universities of the state, I.K Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) Jalandhar-Kapurthala & Maharaja Ranjit Singh State Technical University Bathinda and the other 02 non-affiliating universities Sardar Beant Singh State University, Gurdaspur and Shaheed Bhagat Singh State Technical University, Ferozepur, with more than 300 engineering, management, pharmacy, architecture colleges are ready to facilitate lakhs of student for admissions 2022-23 academic session. In these institutions, the admission process has been made simple and effective as compared to past years. To ensure quality and transparent admissions agenda of the State Government in these institutes, the focus of the Department of Technical Education and Industrial Training remains constant & clear. Departmental teams are continuously monitoring it. Various process notifications related to admission in these academic institutions have also been issued by the department on priority basis, before a month. This time the department is advanced in admissions. This information has been given by IAS Rahul Bhandari, Principal Secretary, Department of Technical Education and Industrial Training, (PSTE) Govt. of Punjab.

IAS Bhandari launched the Students Friendly Admission Portal developed by I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) Jalandhar-Kapurthala on Wednesday in Chandigarh. The Student Friendly Admission Portal is the initiative of IKGPTU. This will make the admissions of University Main Campus, other campuses & affiliated colleges accessible and transparent and also make the admissions of various affiliated Colleges in Punjab accessible to the students. Portal is also supporting its affiliated colleges. The contact data received from the registration is supported by giving it to all stakeholder colleges.

At the portal launch ceremony, PSTE Rahul Bhandari said that the Government, non-Government and Autonomous Universities and Colleges have world-class infrastructure, maximum PhD faculty and other resources; the only need is to use them together in one joint direction. He said that the technical education of the state becomes the base of economic strength of Punjab, when thousands of students from other states and countries take admission here and invest in various ways. Principal Secretary Rahul Bhandari is also having the charge of Vice Chancellor IKGPTU. 
It is worth mentioning that every year thousands of students take admission in all these academic institutions, including major states like Punjab, Himachal, J&K, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand as well as students from other countries like Ghana, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh etc. The admission process in these institutions is decided by the Department of Technical Education, on the basis of which IKGPTU conducts joint counseling for its own campuses and for Maharaja Ranjit Singh University including Punjab Agriculture University – PAU Ludhiana. For this, the admission portal launched on Wednesday will remain the same, while the counseling schedule will be announced soon. In the last admission year, the number of admissions in these institutions stood at 1,11,196.

IKGPTU Registrar Dr. SK Mishra and Dean Academics cum Chief Coordinator Admissions Prof. (Dr.) Vikas Chawla said that the university has set up a pre-registration portal & started for free registration in the month of April-May. It was an effort to provide all the information related to admissions to the aspirant students. Now after the start of the registration, the university will get the student registered by taking only one thousand rupees, out of which 500 rupees will be returned to the student after getting the seat. University Deputy Registrar (Admissions) Rishi Gupta and Programmer Ashish Kumar said that IKGPTU has the lowest registration fee as compared to competing universities and being a state university, we are following all regulations set by regulatory bodies like AICTE, UGC and DTE. Rishi Gupta clarified that in IKG PTU courses where counseling is applicable, admission counseling will be based on seat allotment, whereas only university merit will be applicable to those in which admissions are open on merit basis.
On this occasion, Director IQAC Dr. Amanpreet Singh, Controller Examinations Dr. Paramjit Singh, Director Colleges Dr. Balkar Singh, Joint Registrar Dr. RPS Bedi, Dean R&D Dr. Ashish Arora, Finance Officer Dr. S.S. Walia, Dy. Controller Dr. Nitya Sharma and others were present.
