Priyanka Chopra gains appreciation for response to question on Kamala Harris as first US Vice President

Hindi and Hollywood film actress, Priyanka Chopra Jonas won plaudits after her response regarding Kamala Harris being the first woman to be the Vice President of America descending from African-America and India-America backgrounds.

Piryanka Chopra appeared in "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," to promote his upcoming film The White Tiger. According to a report published in The Indian Express, Chopra and Colbert discussed topics ranging from politics to entertainment among others.

When the host of the show asked how Chopra felt after Harris became first female, South-Asian and Black Vice President. He was quoted by The Indian Express, “As a South Asian woman yourself, what did it mean to you, to see the new vice president to be the first female, first South Asian, first African American vice president?”

Priyanka Chopra responded, “Couple of things… it was such an emotional moment for a lot of my friends and family but coming from a country like India which has seen several women in governance, whether it is President, Prime Minister…You know, welcome to the club, America. That’s what I’ll say. High time, I hope this isn’t the first.”

Chopra added, “I hope there are many, many because this is what governance should look like. Leadership looks amazing especially when it is diverse and reflective of what the world really looks like,”
