Jassi Khangura, a prominent Ludhiana industrialist and senior Aam Aadmi Party leader (AAP) in Ludhiana, Punjab, has resigned from the party. Jassi left Congress and joined AAP in the 2022 assembly elections. He was a strong contender for Aam Aadmi Party ticket from Ludhiana Lok Sabha seat. However, instead of expressing confidence in Jassi, the party gave the ticket to sitting MLA Ashok Parashar Pappu. According to reports, Jassi was not content with this decision.

 

Annoyed after being denied the party ticket, former MLA Jassi Khangura resigned from the primary membership of the AAP. This occurred days after the AAP fielded Ludhiana Central MLA Ashok Parashar Pappi as the Lok Sabha candidate from Ludhiana. However he did not cite a reason in his resignation to Kejriwal.

 

Khangura was MLA from 2007 to 2012.

Jasbir Singh ‘Jassi’ Khanguda's is from an old Congress family. Jasbir Singh Jassi Khanguda contested and won the 2007 assembly elections from Kila Raipur. After this, he lost the 2012 elections from Mullanpur Dakha.

 

Khangura, who had quit the Congress and joined the AAP during the 2022 assembly elections, was among the frontrunners for the party’s Ludhiana ticket.


Who is Jassi Khanguda?

Jassi Khanguda is known among the most prominent businessmen in the city. He owns five-star hotel Park Plaza in Ludhiana city along with several other businesses. Jassi Khanguda was once considered to be a very close aide of Captain Amarinder Singh.
