Pulwana encounter Kashmir

11 people were killed, out of which 7 were civilians and more than 15 people were injured after the security forces opened fire at the protesters in an encounter in South Kashmir Pulwama district. Three terrorists were killed in the encounter, including Jawan turned terrorist Zahoor Amar Thokar. In July, Hizbul Mujahideen had informed that Thokar who was in 173 Territory Army, was missing along with his service rifles and ammunition. Security forces have also said that Thokar was responsible for several killings in Pulwama.

"Loss of civilians is deeply grieved. We once again appeal to citizens to remain away from encounter site as it is a prohibited zone which involves significant danger to life. A case has been registered. Incriminating materials, including arms and ammunition have been recovered from the encounter site", said Jammu and Kashmir Police mourning the death of civilians.

Internet services have also been suspended in the area subsequent to the encounter.
