Punjab: 14 hours raid at AAP MLA’s house, cash of 32 lakhs and mobile phones seized

The AAP MLA was accused in a 40-crore bank scam case for which earlier also CBI had raided his properties.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid on the premises of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Jaswant Gajjanmajra from Amargarh lasted for 14 hours. During the raid, ED recovered Rs 32 lakh in cash. Apart from this, the mobile of Gajjanamajra and his brother have also been taken by the ED. The ED has also seized some documents from his house, school and factory.

At the same time, MLA Jaswant Gajjanamajra said that he will not come under any kind of pressure. The money recovered from them was the payment of business. He will fully cooperate in the investigation of the Enforcement Directorate. A team of 14 officers raided his place and also recorded the statements of MLA Gajjanmajra and his brother.

The AAP MLA had taken a loan from the bank in 4 installments between 2011 and 2014. The loan taken by him amounted to Rs. 40.92 crores. The Ludhiana branch of the bank complained about the same to the CBI. They stated that the loan taken by the MLA is not being used for the purpose mentioned but is being utilized at some other places.

The last time when the raid was conducted, CBI got 94 signed blank checks and many Aadhar Cards also cash worth Rs. 16.57 lakhs were also recovered. The Police recovered 88 foreign currency notes, property documents and documents related to several bank accounts.

AAP MLA Jaswant Singh Gajjanamajra came into the discussion after a 1-rupee salary when he announced that he would take only one rupee as his salary. Gajjanamajra had said that Punjab was facing financial problems because of which he took the decision. In the election, he defeated Simranjit Singh Mann of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar).
