Punjab: 18 passenger trains get cancelled as weather condition in the state worsens

The weather department has also issued a red alert in Punjab

Punjab for the last week has witnessed a severe drop in the temperature. The state almost every day experiences a thick blanket of fog making visibility zero. Taking into consideration, the dense fog conditions, Railways has announced the cancellation of 18 passenger trains starting from 25th December 2022 to 24th January 2023.

Reportedly, the weather department has also issued a red alert in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh keeping in mind the weather condition it will witness in the next coming days. As per the Meteorological Department, Punjab will experience dense fog and cold waves in the next coming week.

The trains that will get cancelled from Sunday are Jalandhar city – Firozpur special train, Fazilka – Kotkapura special, Firozpur – Jalandhar city special, Bathinda – Fazilka and Fazilka special – Bathinda special, Ambala – Patiala special and Patiala – Ambala special, Ambala – Nangal Dam special Nangal Dam – Ambala special, Bathinda special and Bathinda – Dhuri special, Amritsar – Pathankot special Pathankot – Amritsar Special, Kotkapura – Fazilka special, Jalandhar city – Hoshiarpur special and Amritsar – Daaera Baba Nanak special.

Punjab from the last week has been very cold. The state sees heavy blanket of fog in the morning as well as evening. The temperature in the state has not gone more than 10 degrees which has made it very difficult of vehicle owners to travel.
