The Ministry of Home Affairs has approved the Central Deputation of Punjab Anti-drug STF Chief Harpreet Sidhu. He has been appointed as an Additional Director General in Indo-Tibetan Border Police.
IPS Harpreet Sidhu is a 1992 batch officer. His name was also there in the list of would-be DGP but despite the fact he was more senior than Gaurav Yadav, his name was not considered during the choice of the DGP Punjab. Later he showed his interest to go on a central deputation. Till now 16 officers have gone on central deputation which includes 2 senior officers that are Sumant Kumar who is now the head of RAW and Dinkar Gupta who heads NIA.
Punjab's ex-DGP VK Bhawra has also shown his interest to go on Central Deputation but till now he does not get approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
