Farmers organisations of Punjab have announced a Bandh of the state on December 30 in order to intensify their protest against the Central Government. Farmers organisations on Thursday held a meeting at the Khanauri border of Haryana-Punjab and announced a Punjab bandh on December 30. During Punjab Bandh Day, train and road services are expected to be disrupted as farmers have stated that they will block both railway tracks as well as highways of Punjab. Now, the question arises what will remain open and what will be closed on December 30?
The Punjab bandh will be observed from 7 AM to 4 PM, with significant disruptions expected across the state.
After the farmers meeting on Thursday, Sarwan Singh Pandher is actively urging shopkeepers and vendors to support the bandh while ensuring minimal inconvenience to the general public. Posters have been displayed across Punjab to spread awareness and inform people about the shutdown.
The bandh has garnered support from various religious, social, and cultural organizations, as well as the Mini-Bus Operators Association of Punjab. The association’s president, Baldev Singh Babbu, emphasized the need to support struggling farmers and declared a halt to bus services in Amritsar district.
December 30 will mark marked the 35th day of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal's fast until death. Dallewal is on a hunger strike at the Khanauri border. Dallewal and other protesting farmers organisation have 13 demands including MSP on crops. His health remains critical. Now he is not even able to talk. He is communicating only through gestures.
Doctors have issued a medical bulletin saying that Jagjit Singh Dallewal's blood pressure is very worrying. He has not eaten anything for more than 30 days and has not drunk anything except water. His hands have turned yellow. He is not even able to speak now.
