Today Punjab is witnessing a massive protest across the state after Sant Samaaj and National Alliance of Scheduled Castes have called for 'bandh' on October 10. The protest is being staged against the Hathras Gangrape and Murder Case and Post-Matric Scholarship Scam. 

Roads have been blocked, markets are shut due to the protest which is being carried out by BJP, AAP, NSCA. Reportedly, the protests and roads blockade will be from 10 am to 1 pm. 

Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Kapurthala are witnessing the agitated protests. 

Jalandhar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar and SSP Sandeep Garg called a meeting of the officers and discussed the security arrangements. The police have been put on high alert.

On Friday, a meeting was held by Chandan Grewal, head of Punjab Sanitisation Workers Federation and senior SAD leader which concluded that a massive protest will be staged at Company Bagh Chowk, Jalandhar from 10 am to 3 pm on Saturday.

According to the statements of Sant Samaaj, CM Capt Amarinder Singh was already warned of roads blockade after he gave a clean chit to Sadhu Singh Dharmsot, State Social Welfare Minister in the PMS scam. Following this, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP),  Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Shriguru Ravidas Sangharsh Committee, NSCA, and many organizations at the local level also supported the Sant Samaaj program.

Notably, on Thursday, AAP workers had also tried to besiege the residence of CM Capt Amarinder Singh. BJP workers are also active in this and are seeking the dismissal of Cabinet Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, who has been alleged for his involvement in the PMS scam. 

 The Sant Samaaj Sangharsh Committee and other organizations had given an ultimatum to the government till October 7 to consider the issues.
