The Punjab School Education Board has banned three books for allegedly distorting facts related to Sikh history,  the state's education minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer said on Sunday.

(Sikh history is invaluable to all of us and to future generations. Misrepresented facts about Sikh history were presented in the 12th class book 'HistoryOfPunjab'. CM Bhagwant Mann Issued orders of action against the guilty authors / publishers on the direction of G. and prohibited the use of books.)

The books which have been banned are 'Modern ABC of History of Punjab’ authored by Manjit Singh Sodhi, a history book by Mahinder Pal Kaur and ‘History of Punjab’ by M S Mann for Class 12.

Baldev Singh Sirsa filed a complaint against these books for distorting facts related to Sikh religion. After which a committee was formed to investigate the entire matter. Inder Pal Singh Malhotra, a former officer on special duty (OSD) to Punjab’s director-general of education, led the investigation.

On Saturday, Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) chairman Yograj Singh told the media that the three books had been banned due to factual inaccuracies.

CM Mann ordered that action will be taken against the authors and publishers of these books.
