Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann is on a Germany tour from 11 September to 18 September 2022. The CM is on the tour to bring a change and make some major developments in the industrial sector of Punjab. It comes as shock to Punjab as the renowned company BMW has rejected the plan of setting up its unit in Punjab outright.
Post the meeting of CM with BMW top brass, Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday claimed that BMW had offered to set up a components plant in Punjab.
As soon as this news started getting heated up and making headlines the company denied the claim saying that till now it does not have any such claims. After the rejection of the claim, all the opposition parties sought clarification from the CM on the whole matter. Many leaders have raised a question about the credibility of CM Mann.
After this news, the Aam Aadmi Party spokesperson, Malvinder Kang clarified it saying that a lot of processes have to be cleared before any big company has to set up the plant. He further added that the conversation on this matter took place between the CM and the officials at the headquarters of BMW. No one from the Indian unit was present there during the meeting.
He impressed on the point, “BMW's delegation will come at the Punjab Invest Summit in February 2023. Where the whole plan will be laid in front of them. We are not just doing MoU but want to bring real investment in Punjab.”
During the tour of Germany, Punjab CM Mann will meet the delegates and representatives of different companies and will try his level best to make them invest in Punjab to increase industrial development in the state. During this time, investment and strategic partnership will be increased in car manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, modern farming techniques and other key areas.
CM Mann on Tuesday himself tweeted saying that he met the top official of renowned car company BMW which has agreed to set up its component units in Punjab on a large scale. At present, the company has a plant in Chennai.
