Punjab boils at 47.5°C as IMD puts multiple districts on heatwave alert; Know when rain is expected

IMD has warned that multiple districts of Punjab will witness a heatwave in the upcoming days.

Punjab witnessed rainfall in some of its districts on Wednesday evening, giving a huge relief from the scorching heat. However, the weather has flipped again as the India Meteorological Department has warned that multiple districts of Punjab will witness a heatwave in the upcoming days. Punjab Summers are intensifying day by day. This can be understood by the fact that one of the districts in the state recorded a whopping 47.5°C on May 21, 2025. May 21, 2025: Orange alert for heatwave-  Ferozepur, Fazilka, Muktasar, Faridkot, Bathinda, Mansa
May 21, 2025: Yellow Alert for heatwave- Amritsar, Taran Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Moga, Ludhiana, Barnala, Sangrur, Mohali, Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala

May 22, 2025: Orange Alert for heatwave- Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Forezepur, Moga, Faridkot, Fazilka, Muktasar, Bathinda, Barnala and Mansa
May 22, 2025: Yellow Alert for heatwave- Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Sangrur, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib and Mohali

May 23, 2025: Orange Alert for heatwave- Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Faridkot, Muktasar, Fazilka, Bathinda and Mansa

Punjab Rainfall Prediction

Multiple districts of Punjab are likely to witness rainfall from May 24, 2025. Below is what IMD predicted- 

May 24, 2025- No heatwave on this date. Rainfall is likely to take place in Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar, and Mohali

May 25, 2025- Rainfall is likely to take place in- Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Pathankot, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar, Mohali, Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala, Ferozepur, Moga, Faridkot, Fazilka, Muktasar and Bathinda.

Punjab Temperature

On May 21, Bathinda was the hottest district in Punjab. Bathinda registered 47.5°C, Amritsar 43.5°C, Ludhiana 43°C, Patiala 40.4°C, Pathankot 41°C, Faridkot-45°C, Gurdaspur 41°C, etc.
