Punjab: BSF personnel of Gurdaspur Sector shoot down Pakistani drone at Shahpur border, search operation initiated

The Border Security Force under the Gurdaspur sector has been succeedingly shot down in Anjala at Shahpur border. Reportedly, it was 4:30 in the morning when 73 BSF personnel were on patrol in the Shahpur village. Around 17 rounds were fired and the drone was brought down. According to the information that has been received, it is suspected that the drone found may contain a consignment of either weapons or drugs. A search operation was also initiated in the area on the orders of DIG BSF, Prabhakar Joshi who reached the spot after the whole incident took place. The operation conducted surrounded the area up to 5 km.

Informing about the drone that has been recovered, is a China-made quadcopter DJI Matrice-300 that can almost carry a load of more than 10 kg. The data reveals that in the last 9 months around 171 drone movements were witnessed in the cities of Punjab which includes Amritsar, Abohar and Fereozpur.

It was earlier in the year that 2 drones were recovered by the BSF and this third time it was shot down by the same. The data revealed has raised major concerns about the internal security in the country.
