Voting for the Ludhiana West By-election 2025 concluded on Thursday, with the constituency witnessing a lower voter turnout of 51.33%. Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Sibin C informed that the approximate Voter Turnout as per data uploaded till 07:00 PM is 51.33%. As part of a new initiative, the polling data has been uploaded by the Presiding officers at the polling station on the ECINET App. It may be noted that voting percentage trends are approximate. Now, the Ludhiana West By-election results will be announced on June 23 after the counting of votes.
As Ludhiana West witnessed a lower voter turnout, it is expected that the Aam Aadmi Party's candidate Sanjeev Arora may seal the deal. However, the election may witness a tight three-cornered contest between AAP, Congress, and BJP. Since Ludhiana West constituency is known to have urban and industrialists voters, it is expected that Sanjeev Arora may enjoy an edge. For those who are unaware, Sanjeev is himself an industrialist.
Punjab Cabinet to undergo expansion?
As the by-election has been concluded, sources indicate that preparations for a cabinet expansion are underway and could be executed after the election result. Insiders suggest that if Sanjeev Arora, AAP’s candidate from Ludhiana West, emerges victorious, he is likely to be inducted into the cabinet, as previously promised by AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal. Alongside him, one more MLA is likely from the Doaba region, who may also be included in the expanded cabinet.
.Alongside the expansion, the government may also reshuffle the portfolios of three to four ministers. Some old ministers may be assigned new departments, and new ministers may be given significant responsibilities. If Sanjeev Arora wins, he could be entrusted with important departments.
