Punjab Cabinet Minister Fauja Singh Sarari submitted his resignation to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday. He stated his reason for resigning from his post as personal. Fauja Singh Sarari held the Ministry of Food and Horticulture in the Aam Aadmi Party government. He has been on target of the opposition for quite a long time after which leaders also demanded his resignation.

Minister Fauja Singh Sarari was also served with a show-cause notice by Aam Aadmi Party last year after his audio clip regarding an extortion plan went viral. In the clip, the minister was allegedly discussing an extortion plan and how to carry out the plan. Reportedly, the clip was leaked by his close aide-turned-foe Tarsem Lal Kapoor. Tarsem Lal Kapoor was upset with the minister for some personal reasons due to which he leaked his call. In his defence, Fauja Singh stated that the clips were doctored and he was being framed by his foes.

There is a possibility that a major reshuffle in the Aam Aadmi Party cabinet may take place. Departments for a few ministers can be changed while new faces might be welcomed in the cabinet. Reportedly, Meet Hayer might be given the Mining and Prison department. Harjot Bains can be replaced. There is also talk of changing the department of Anmol Gagan Mann. The oath taking ceremony will take place at 5 pm on Saturday.
