Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann deplaning row on Monday took the center stage with the opposition parties slammed the AAP leader after reports emerged that he was deplaned in Germany after being found intoxicated. Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal, citing media reports, on Monday claimed that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann was deplaned from the Lufthansa Airlines for being in an inebriated state. Taking to his official Twitter handle, Badal cited a media report and called the incident an 'embarassment to Pujabis'. Badal further stated that Bhagwant Mann was 'too drunk to walk' and therefore it also caused a' 4-hour flight delay'.

Talking to to his Twitter handle, Badal wrote, "Disturbing media reports quoting co-passengers say Pb CM @BhagwantMann was deplaned from Lufthansa flight as he was too drunk to walk. And it led to a 4-hour flight delay. He missed AAP's national convention. These reports have embarrassed & shamed Punjabis all over the globe," adding, "Shockingly, Pb govt is mum over these reports involving their CM @BhagwantMann @ArvindKejriwal needs to come clean on this issue. Govt of India must step in as this involves Punjabi & national pride. If he was deplaned, GoI must raise the issue with its German counterpart."

The Aam Aadmi Party denied the claims of Badal and called it 'dirty tricks of political opponents'. Despite AAP's denial, constant accusations were hurled at the Punjab CM. Seeing this, netizens started to question Lufthansa about the reality and exact reason of the delay. Amidst continuous questions, Lufthansa, the German air carrier broke its silence and stated that the Frankfurt to Delhi Flight was delayed due to an inbound flight and an aircraft change. Responding to a Twitter user, Lufthansa wrote, "Our flight from Frankfurt to Delhi departed later than originally planned due to a delayed inbound flight and an aircraft change. Best regards"
