Underlining the need to curb the VIP culture,Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Monday asked the Ministers tokeep their security personnel at the barest minimum as per the guidelines as hehad already curtailed his own security.

Chairing a maiden meeting of thereconstituted Council of Minister here at Chief Minister's Office this morning,Mr. Channi said that this initiative would not only be instrumental indeployment of extra security personnel judiciously but also save the generalpublic from unnecessary inconvenience in this regard.

In order to provide easy access to theelected representatives like sarpanches, municipal councillors etc., it wasalso decided to issue an entry card from the office of concerned DeputyCommissioner/SDM and the holders of such card would be allowed hassle freeentry in state government offices and Civil Secretariats in Chandigarh.

Emphasizing the need to prepare acomprehensive roadmap, the Chief Minister asked all the administrativesecretaries/head of departments to prepare an action plan to implement theirdevelopment projects and welfare schemes in a time bound and holistic manner.

Assuring a clean, transparent, fair, just andefficient administration to the people, Mr. Channi asked the Ministers toperform to the best of their capacities and capabilities to repose trust in thestate government. 

The Chief Minister said now they would have to work overtimeso as to come up to the expectations of the people in delivering goodgovernance to them to their satisfaction. He urged all of them to work zealouslywith utmost sincerity, honesty and commitment to boost the image of governmentand meet the aspirations of the people particularly at the grass roots level.

The Chief Minister also placed on record deepappreciation to the former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and hisCabinet colleagues for implementation of pro-people initiatives and overalldevelopment works in the state.
