A day after being humiliated by Punjab Health Minister Chetan Singh Jauramajra, Baba Farid University VC Dr. Raj Bahadur resigned from his post. Dr. Raj Bahadur was forcibly made to lie on a dirty mattress by Health Minister yesterday. The video of this incident went very viral. After which the VC resigned at midnight.
Minister's action has drawn sharp criticism from opposition parties and doctors as well. Talking about the incident, Dr. Raj Bahadur said that the Health Minister came for inspection. The health minister questioned, "why the mattress is dirty, and the ac is not working?"
He said that to purchase any item in the hospital takes around 9 months. He also added that they were going to place the order for the mattresses. Not all the mattresses in the hospital were damaged. But the minister only wants to see those who were damaged.
He said "I have told everything to CM Bhagwant Mann. This is not a suitable working environment. The CM has also apologized for this attitude. The minister should support making the health system better. They should help in the improvement of the system." On the question of withdrawing the resignation, Dr. Raj Bahadur said that whether I should work or not, is for the government to decide.
There is also political uproar after this incident. Many political leaders came in the support of Dr. Raj Bahadur. Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Raja Warring also visited Dr. Raj Bahadur. After his visit, he tweeted, "I couldn't see eye to eye with Dr. Raj Bahadur Ji, as there was helplessness in his eyes. It was not he who felt insulted and humiliated, but all of us together. Entire Punjab stands in solidarity with you, Sir."

On the matter, Congress MLA Pargat Singh tweeted, "Cheap theatrics of Aam Aadmi Party never ceases. Today the Vice Chancellor of Baba Farid Medical University, Raj Bahadur Singh was publicly humiliated by Health minister Chetan Singh Jouramajra (+2 Pass). This type of mob behavior will only demoralize our medical staff."
After the incident, Dr. Rajiv Devgan, Principal of Government Medical College, Amritsar, and Dr. KD Singh, Medical Superintendent of Guru Nanak Hospital, have sent their resignations to the government too.
