An inquiry has been marked against MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira in a land fraud case. He is also the National Chairman of the Kisan Wing Congress.
At present Advocate, Harsimran Singh of Punjab and Haryana High Court has requested an inquiry by the Vigilance Bureau against him.
TrueScoop team reached out to him regarding this issue and this is what he has to say about the whole incident.
Adv. Harsimran Singh said, “a land in Adampur was acquired by the Central government in 1956 in relation to the Bhakra Nangal Project. Sukhpal Singh Khaira has a full list of the pending allotments and in the list, one person named Santokh Singh was to come to India to claim his allotment but he lost his life during the riots and he had no heirs to claim the allotment. Making it an opportunity, the MLA along with other members created fake documents of Santokh Singh and claimed the property for the allotment. Later on, he purchased the same property from his member and sold it at a very high price. Multiple cases like this have been registered against him.”
The advocate also impressed upon the point that the fake person was to claim the allotment in the year 1996, but MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira signed an agreement with that person in 1995 only that as soon as the property will be allotted to the fake Santokh Singh, he will sell it to the MLA. This clearly shows that the MLA was already aware that which property will be allotted to that person which points out another fraud.
“In 1997, the Supervisor Engineer of Bhakra Nangal Project wrote a letter to the DC, SDM Tehsildar, that the allotment of this land is not possible as it has to be used for some other purpose. In the year 2009, a report came into force which stated that the allotment done is wrong and the process to cancel it should be initiated. A ban was also put on the purchase and sale of this land, but the MLA sold it in the year 2018,” he added further.
According to all the statements MLA, Sukhpal Singh Khaira has done fraud in terms of Impersonation and fraud with the Central Government. Not only this but he has done fraud with those who have purchased the property from him. He also never showed this property in the affidavit filed in all the 5 elections that he fought during the period.
He quoted, “the fraud is not only being done by him but many others are also involved in it. Firstly, the person who provided the allotment to his fraud people in posh areas, then the person who becomes the fake heir is also involved.”
He further informed that the reason for this case to come to the fore in the year 2022 is that when the person to whom that land was sold went to get the plot registered, it was told to him that this property can’t be registered.
Advocate Harsimran Singh got the information about it and marked for inquiry to Vigilance Bureau Punjab against the MLA. He has also appealed for a Vigilance inquiry in this case. CM Mann has also ordered the inquiry.
According to the advocate, if the MLA is proven guilty then he will be imprisoned for around 3 years and all the recovery will be taken from him.
We also tried to reach out to MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira to get his statement in this regard and he said, "I don't want to comment on this as it is totally baseless. My attention to this will only give them weightage which I don't want should happen. I have nothing to fear as I have not done anything wrong."
