Moga, Punjab: Congress leader Baljinder Singh Bali, a prominent figure from Dala village in Moga district, was brutally shot dead at his residence on Wednesday evening, sending shockwaves through the community.

Two bike-borne assailants stormed into his house around 6 p.m. and opened fire.

Bali, who also held the position of the numberdar of Dala village and presided over the Ajitwal block as its Congress chief, was reportedly approached by unidentified individuals under the guise of needing a document stamped.

The unsuspecting leader was shot moments after stepping out to meet them. Efforts to rush him to a nearby hospital proved futile as he succumbed to his injuries en route.

In a startling revelation, notorious gangster Arsh Dalla took to Facebook to claim responsibility for the heinous crime. Dalla alleged in his post that Bali had wronged his family, leading him down a criminal path.

"My only objective was to end Baljinder Singh Bali, and today that mission has been accomplished," he asserted in the post.

The local police are rigorously investigating the matter, aiming to corroborate the claims and bring the culprits to justice.
