Expressing solidarity with the Punjab farmers on threeAgriculture Laws, Punjab Education Minister Vijay InderSingla sat on one dayhunger-strike on Wednesday in Sangrur. Around two hundred Arhtiyas from Punjabalso accompanied Singla in this Hunger strike.

This agitation started by farmers has become a genuinemass movement and people across sects are coming on their own to support thiscollective cause. Arhitiyas& farmers in Punjab share strong bonding forover hundred years. Farmer unions have also given a call for Hunger strike andwe are offering our support through this move,” Singla said while talking toreporters in Sangrur.

I would also appeal the union government to call theWinter Session of Parliament and repeal these draconian laws. Since, these lawswere an assault on the federal structure of our democracy, the Punjabgovernment under the leadership of Captain Amarinder Singh had negated them butI feel this is not enough and union government must abrogate these lawscompletely,”Singla said. He also expressed resentment against the “vindictiveIT raids” on the leading Arhtiyas of Punjab.

The central government has stooped down to gutter levelof politics as they have unleashed the vindictive IT raids against the Arhtiyaswho are offering their support to the farmers. BJP staying true to its divisiveideology had believed that they would divide the movement on the basis ofcaste, creed and religion as they usually do in other states. But they havefailed miserably in Punjab. These raids were result of their frustration,” hesaid insisting he is proud of the fact that Punjab is leading the nation widefarmer agitation.

The Income Tax Department with help of CRPF had carriedout raids against the leading Arhtiyas across Punjab last week. This laid towide-spread protests against the central government in the state.
