Punjab: First suspected case of Monkeypox reported in Amritsar, health department issues alert

After the case, the health department issued an alert, and the testing of passengers arriving at the airport has started.

A suspected case of monkeypox has come to light in Amritsar. After the case, the health department issued an alert, and the testing of passengers arriving at the airport has started.


Guidelines have been issued to all the teams of the health department who are already posted at Amritsar airport, list of symptoms has also been sent along with the guidelines.


The suspected passenger who came to Amritsar traveled with a passenger who came from Delhi and later tested positive for monkeypox.  According to Civil Surgeon, Dr. Charanjit Singh, the suspected passenger has been quarantined.


The samples will be tested by the team of Amritsar Medical College and the head of the dermatology department will monitor all of them.
